Visit Shinkichi Tajiri's castle in Baarlo

I visited Shinkichi Tajiri's castle in Baarlo last Sunday.  I didn't know about him a lot, just knew that he was one of Cobra members before.  But the more I knew about him, the more I realized how innovative and conceptual he was about his approach to his work and medium.

Shinkichi is a really interesting person to know.  Here's the part of the movie "Samurai in space" made by his friend, an Australian director Paul Cox.  You can see his castle here.  I heard from Giotta that Shinkichi allowed his grandson to pee to his cast sculpture outside.

Shinkichi took photos about most parts of Berlin wall while he lived in Berlin.  Some of them are uploaded here.  I heard the story that when he had an opening of his exhibition in Berlin, nobody appeared because the Berlin wall was fallen down on the day. What a lucky guy...

I'm making a work influenced by his work "Karesansui" (dry zen garden) at the moment.  The work will be exhibited in the end of June at Cobra museum.  I'll let you know when the schedule is fixed!
