Film stills
I took some shots at Schwimm und Sprunghalle im Europasportpark (SSE) in Berlin for a film which will be released next year. I can't tell the details yet, but the story is about a guy who is imprisoned on false charges in the Guantanamo Bay detention camp for around 5 years. It's based on a true story and there still remains lots of things to be solved about Guantanamo Bay detention camp.

German craftsmanship is just amazing!
It's such a nice sunny Sunday, so I visited Kunst und Nostalgie Markt (Art flea market near the Museum Island) today. I like antiques and have already been to Trödelmarkt, Trödelmarkt auf dem Boxhagener Platz, Flohmarkt am Mauerpark, and Flohmarkt nahe Ostbanhof. Personally, I like Trödelmarkt auf dem Boxhagener Platz because far from being touristy, but some stalls at Kunst und Nostalgie Markt were really interesting. Old books in cool binding which were published in East Germany, LP records, old photos, old stamps etc... you'll easily forget a few hours.
Druckstöcke (printing block in German) which has around 500 years history was amazingly elaborate. They include lots of fantasy and dreams. I heard that only 4 Druckstöcke makers survive in Germany now. Keeping great traditions sounds tough everywhere.

Spreewald
Took a train from Berlin to Lübbenau (it took around 1.5 h) to visit Spreewald last Sunday. It's situated about 100 km south-east of Berlin and was designated a biosphere reserve by UNESCO in 1991. It is known for its traditional irrigation system which consists of more than 200 small channels (called "Fließe"; total length: 1,300 km) within the 484-square-kilometre area. The landscape was shaped during the ice age.
Silver grassland
Spreewald means "Spree woods" in Lower Sorbian: a Slavic minority language spoken in eastern Germany in the historical province of Lower Lusatia, today part of Brandenburg. About 50,000 people live in the biosphere reserve (1998). Many of them are descendants of the first settlers in the Spreewald region, the Slavic tribes of the Sorbs (a Western Slavic people of Central Europe living predominantly in Lusatia, a region on the territory of Germany and Poland)/ Wends (a historic name for West Slavs living near Germanic settlement areas). They have preserved their traditional language, customs and clothing to this day. An old house with a thatched roof

My own treasure
Everyone has their own memories. Each memory doesn't say anything, just remains. But they certainly exist in our minds and grow little by little as time goes by. Nobody can interrupt nor intrude into them... like our own treasure.
Summer is coming along in Berlin. I'll go to find my own treasure today.

Zeit
There was an event organized by ZEITGENERATOREN at zmf near Rosenthaler Platz on 25th June. I took some shots for it and the following images are some of them.
The theme of the event was zeit ('time' in German). You could choose to go either into the past floor or the future floor. When you chose the past and went through a time machine (when you push a button, the smoke poured out!), a floor filled with 80's music hanging jazz records and origami cranes was waiting.
Dutch artist Gerard Janssen exhibited his work.
The future floor was rather bright with electronic music.

Past or future... we are between them and at the same time, one part of them.

My journey is set to be continued in Berlin.
I can't believe that 2 weeks and 5 days already passed and today is the beginning of July. I moved from London to Berlin on June 12th. Time doesn't wait for anyone and the summer is already here.
I am getting exposed to Berlin culture and have been searching for a new flat even though my German is almost non existent. But I have a hunch that unexpected events are waiting for me in the future like I experienced in London.
Berlin emits millions of light. My new journey just began.

Gun, police, and videographer
Redz is a filmmaker and he is doing his own projects for communities in Lambeth borough. While I was working with him, we found a gun without a barrel. The above photos show the evidence that gangsters exist in this area.

Berlin, May 2011
I visited Berlin for the first time and experienced their underground culture, silence and fire inside their minds at the same time.
